LogDNA is excited to welcome Danny Chai as our first VP of Engineering!
We asked him some important questions…
What were you doing previously?
I took a year-long break from work. I was previously at a startup called Branch.co, which used machine learning to do microlending via mobile phones in Africa. Prior to that, I spent 8 years at Facebook, from 2007-2015.
What city are you originally from?
Born in Ohio, raised in South San Jose, and my family moved to Houston in 1993. But I myself have been in the Bay Area pretty much since 1977, so I’m an old-timer.
What is your favorite food, drink, or restaurant?
Pizza, Hibiki 21, Fat Duck
What’s your favorite flavor of cake?
I don’t really eat cake…
What do you like to do for fun?
I read a ton. Also play a lot of music.
If you could instantly pick up a superhero power, what would it be?
The ability to log with 100% uptime and 100% reliability.
What’s an interesting fact about you that people wouldn’t guess?
In 7th grade, I was the pianist for the top junior high jazz band in the country. I got interviewed by the San Jose Mercury News and Downbeat magazine. That was my peak – I suck at playing jazz now.
